← Return to Chapter Selector

You've been practicing math, reading complex card text, managing your resources, and thinking multiple turns ahead. Now it's time to put those skills to the test at a real event.

Your First League Event

A League Challenge or League Cup is a great first step into competitive play. These are smaller, local events where the atmosphere is friendly and the stakes are low. Here's what to bring:

  • Your sleeved 60-card deck
  • A written decklist (ask your parent to help you fill it out)
  • Damage counters and dice
  • A water bottle and a snack
  • A positive attitude — remember the Golden Rule!

Managing Tournament Nerves

It's completely normal to feel nervous before a tournament. Even championship players get butterflies. Here are three things you can do:

  1. Take three slow, deep breaths before each round begins.
  2. Focus on playing your best — not on winning or losing. The results take care of themselves.
  3. Remember: every competitive player started exactly where you are right now.

🏆 You're Ready, Trainer!

You've mastered the advanced math, learned to read complex cards, developed your memory and planning skills, and prepared for competition. The next step is yours to take. See you at the tournament!

📝 [Educator Note]

Attending a local league event is a powerful social-emotional learning opportunity. Your child will practice sportsmanship, handle wins and losses gracefully, and interact with peers who share their interests. Accompany them to their first few events and debrief afterwards about what they learned.
