In the basic rules, you win by taking 6 prize cards. But at the advanced level, you need to understand how many prizes each knockout gives you. Some Pokémon give 1 prize when knocked out. Pokémon ex and Pokémon V give 2 or 3 prizes.

Coaches sometimes call tricky boards a "seven-prize" puzzle: when several Pokémon are worth two or three prizes each, the path to six prize cards takes more planning than six one-prize knockouts.

The "Seven-Prize Game" label is a memory hook for that idea — planning for your opponent taking prizes at different rates, and for you needing an extra clean exchange when the board gets awkward.

🧮 Challenge: Planning Your Path

Your opponent has the following Pokémon in play:

  • Charizard ex — 3 prizes when knocked out
  • Pidgeot ex — 2 prizes when knocked out
  • Manaphy — 1 prize when knocked out
  • Charmander — 1 prize when knocked out

What's the fastest path to 6 prizes?

Path A: Charizard ex (3) + Pidgeot ex (2) + Manaphy (1) = 6 ✅ (3 knockouts)

Path B: Charizard ex (3) + Charmander (1) + Pidgeot ex (2) = 6 ✅ (3 knockouts)

Both work! Choose the path where your attackers match up best.
