Chapter 2: Learning Your Cards
Before we play, we have to look at our cards. Each card is like a teammate. They have numbers and words that give you clues on how to win.
1. The Name
Look at the very top of the card. That is your monster's name. Every monster is unique!
2. Hit Points (HP) Look at the top right corner. Do you see a big number? That number is called HP. HP stands for Hit Points.8 Hit Points tell you how strong your monster is. If a monster has 60 HP, it is very tough! If the HP goes all the way down to zero, that monster has to take a nap and leave the battle.
[Parent Prompt]: Point to the HP number on your custom dummy card. Ask: "Can you read this big number for me? Let's practice comparing numbers: Which number is larger, 60 or 40?" 9
3. The Attack
Look at the bottom half of the card. This is where the attacks are. An attack is a special move your monster can do. Next to the attack, there is another number. This number tells you how much Damage the attack does to the other team.
Damage is always counted in tens.
