TOURNAMENT COMPANION
TOURNAMENT COMPANION
Your teen is ready for competitive events — League Challenges, League Cups, and potentially Regionals. This is your complete logistics and emotional support guide.
Registration & Logistics
- Register early: Follow Gaming Gen and Play! Pokémon social accounts. Set calendar reminders — Regionals sell out within hours.
- Player ID: Your teen needs a Pokémon Trainer Club account and Play! Pokémon Player ID.
- Decklist submission: Most events require a decklist — physical or through the official app. Help your teen verify card counts (exactly 60).

Emotional Support
🔍 Social Media Boundaries
Discuss what gets posted after a win or loss. Not every match needs a hot take. Modeling restraint online protects friendships and future scholarship or job searches alike.
Tournament days are emotionally intense. Your teen may go 4-0 and feel on top of the world, or start 0-3 and want to quit. Here's your playbook:
- Before Round 1: "Play your best. I'm proud of you for competing."
- After a loss: "What did you learn? You'll use it next round."
- After a win: "Great game! What worked well?"
- End of day: "What was the highlight? What will you do differently next time?"
